Ben Ellington, well known for his smile, is currently a Vice President and Regional Commercial Loan Officer with Chesapeake Bank, a 119-year-old community bank serving customers all along the Chesapeake Bay in Virginia. He started his financial career in 2003, and in 2013 left his job with a great community bank serving Atlanta’s southern crescent to test his skills with a startup bank in Newport News. After being acquired by a much larger financial institution in 2015, he decided to get back to his community banking roots by joining the Chesapeake Bank team. Ben’s professional mission entails focusing on his clients’ bottom lines and their overall success. His unique blend of experience comes from years of working with veteran business bankers who were willing to share their wealth of knowledge with him. Dedicated to his community, he regularly volunteers time with local non-profits and community organizations. He recently served as Chairman for the 2016 AHA Heart Chase in Williamsburg, which raised over $30,000, and currently serves as the Chairman of the Greater Williamsburg Chamber and Tourism Alliance Membership Committee, as a member of the Board of Directors for the Alliance, and on the Executive Board for the Young Emerging Professionals of Williamsburg. An avid outdoorsman, Ben spends much of his free time on the waters of the Chesapeake Bay fishing and crabbing. He received a degree in Ag & Applied Economics from The University of Georgia, furthered his education at The Graduate School of Banking at LSU, and received his financial technology certification from MIT in 2017.
