Ben currently serves as a Vice President and Regional Commercial Loan Officer in Chesapeake Bank’s business lending office in Williamsburg. After working as a lender for Farm Credit, he started his banking career in 2003 working for a 100-year old community bank in Atlanta’s southern crescent region. He has lived and worked in Hampton Roads since 2013. He credits his unique blend of experience to years of working with veteran business bankers who were willing to share their wealth of knowledge with him early on in his career.
In addition to his work with his local business clients, Ben also serves on several technology committees within Chesapeake Bank and is heavily focused on the Bank’s adoption of new technology channels that will allow it to continue providing superior customer service as it grows and evolves.
Dedicated to his community, Ben regularly volunteers time with local non-profits and community organizations. He serves as a member of the Board of Directors, Executive Committee, and is Chairman of the Membership Committee for the Greater Williamsburg Chamber and Tourism Alliance. Ben also serves on the board of the Historic Virginia Land Conservancy. An avid outdoorsman and fisherman, he spends much of his free time on the waters of the Chesapeake Bay.
Ben holds a degree in Agricultural & Applied Economics from the University of Georgia, completed a three-year graduate course of study via the Graduate School of Banking at LSU, and earned a Financial Technology certification from MIT in 2017 which assists him greatly in his work with Chesapeake Bank’s technology initiatives.
